Packtato® is Europe’s leading sustainable packaging provider which offers 100% biodegradableand compostable products made from organic potato and vegetable starches including carrier bags and packages. Our products are manufactured by SIPA Management S.R.L. factory, located in Milan, Italy, and certified by TÜV Austria. Packtato® is one of the few suppliers offering products awarded with three major certificates that give our compostable products recognition throughout the entire European market – OK Compost Home, OK Compost Industrial and Seedling Logo. Unlike many other supplier companies, we are completely transparent about the content of our products. We offer packaging made from 100% pure BASF raw materials and this applies to all components, inks, and additives. We work with potato and vegetable starches which, in contrast to their corn starch and sugar cane analogues, are not treated with GMOs. Certified by the OK Compost Industrial and the Seedling logo labels, we guarantee products that are compostable in an industrial composting plant, meeting the requirements of the harmonized European Union EN 13432:2000 standard, and compliant with the requirements of the EU Packaging Directive. Importantly, our products are not only industrially but also home compostable. With the OK Compost Home certificate, our packaging can go into the compost heap in your home garden or can be disposed with household waste which does not require separation and sorting. Our highest priority is environmental protection. Although many corporations and green marketing movements have decided to promote the use of recyclable plastics, recent evidence has shown that recycling only is not efficient strategy for managing the serious ecological problems. For this reason, EU guidelines have implemented a gradual elimination of conventional single use plastics and encouraged the use of compostable bioplastics. In contrast to the synthetic materials that take several hundred years to disappear, compostable products need just 90 days to convert into fertilizer and to decompose fully without leaving behind any toxic materials. In addition, although disposable paper packages are currently trending, their manufacture require significant amounts of chemicals and it is much more expensive and energy intensive. This makes compostable packaging the better alternative both in terms of efficiency and economic costs.
